Mohamed El-Sharkawy is an Egyptian writer with more than 15 books in literature, journalism and politics. He writes a weekly article in the daily Egyptian newspaper Al-Gomhuria entitled: Behind the Troubles.
He is a Former lecturer of digital journalism (2007-2010) for final-year students at the Faculty of Arts, Helwan University, Department of Journalism.
Editor in chief of the Egyptian weekly newspaper Al-Ra’y (2011-2014)
He is also one of the founders of the Information Technology Center of Dar Al-Tahrir for Printing and Publishing. The center is responsible for establishing and managing the websites of Al-Tahrir and supervising the international edition of Al-Gomhuria newspaper, which used to be distributed in New York and Canada and the Arabic edition, which used to be issued in Riyadh.
He is former editor of Al-Rafii magazine which used to be issued by the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Gharbia governorate in 1984 .. And he was honored by Dr. Ahmed Heikal, who was Minister of Culture at that time, for his pioneering role in spreading culture and literature in the governorate.
El-Sharkawy holds a Bachelor of Mass Communication from the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University in 1977.
He established and managed the first section about online journalism in the Egyptian press in 1998 entitled "Tahrirnet" then managed the section of Information Technology.
